A. Sidney Alpert (Sid) is a distinguished patent and licensing attorney with many years experience. He has both law and engineering degrees, is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is admitted to practice law in the States of New York and Connecticut, as well as the District of Columbia.

Sid started his licensing career with IBM in the early 1970s, and then co-founded what became the country’s largest, publicly traded licensing company, named University Patents, Inc. He became the Chairman and CEO of UPI in the mid 1980s. The company represented many of the country’s largest research universities as exclusive technology licensing agent, and Sid participated in hundreds of licensing negotiations as well as starting up a number of high technology companies based upon university technology developments.

Upon leaving UPI in the early 1990s, Sid became an officer and General Counsel of a high technology company. He is now a private investor in, and consultant to, a number of high technology companies. He also has participated as a Board member in a number of private and public companies.
